About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payment Manager to lead and manage end-to-end payment operations for our NBFC business. The role involves overseeing loan disbursements, customer collections, vendor payments, payment reconciliations, banking relationships, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in digital payment systems, transaction management, reconciliation processes, operational controls, and banking operations.Key Responsibilities
Payment Operations
- Manage end-to-end payment processes, including loan disbursements, customer payouts, vendor payments, refunds, and collections.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions through NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, NACH, payment gateways, and banking channels.
- Monitor transaction success rates and resolve payment failures, exceptions, and settlement issues within defined timelines.
- Oversee daily payment scheduling, authorization workflows, approvals, and execution in line with company policies.
- Ensure smooth execution of high-volume payment operations while maintaining operational accuracy.
Reconciliation & Controls
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, payment gateways, collection accounts, and settlement reports.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, unreconciled transactions, and failed settlements.
- Establish and strengthen internal controls to mitigate operational and financial risks.
- Maintain complete documentation and audit trails for all payment transactions.
- Ensure compliance with internal approval matrices and payment governance standards.
Banking & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with banks, payment aggregators, fintech partners, and service providers.
- Coordinate with banking partners for issue resolution, settlement management, and process optimization.
- Monitor bank charges, transaction fees, settlement timelines, and service quality.
- Evaluate and onboard payment partners to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to RBI regulations, AML/KYC requirements, internal policies, and audit standards.
- Support internal, statutory, and regulatory audits by providing required reports, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Identify operational risks and implement preventive and corrective action plans.
- Ensure compliance with information security, fraud prevention, and operational risk frameworks.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive automation initiatives to improve payment processing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Technology, Product, and Operations teams on payment system enhancements and API integrations.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, operational guidelines, and process documentation.
- Continuously evaluate processes and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce manual intervention.
Reporting & MIS
- Prepare and present MIS reports covering payment volumes, transaction success rates, reconciliation status, settlement timelines, and operational performance.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend process improvements based on data analysis.
- Provide management with periodic updates on operational risks, payment issues, compliance matters, and performance metrics.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning related to payment operations.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of digital payment ecosystems, banking operations, and transaction processing.
- Hands-on experience with NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, NACH, payment gateways, and settlement processes.
- Expertise in payment reconciliations, operational controls, and exception management.
- Good knowledge of RBI regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and compliance standards.
- Experience working with ERP systems, banking portals, and payment management platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MIS reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Certifications in Banking, Payments, Treasury, Financial Operations, or Risk Management will be an added advantage.
