Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to lead and manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for vendor management, invoice processing, payment controls, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and process improvements. This role requires strong expertise in managing payment operations while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and robust internal controls within a fast-paced NBFC environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Operations

  • Manage and oversee the complete Accounts Payable lifecycle, including invoice verification, accounting, approvals, and payments.
  • Ensure timely processing of vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and expense claims as per company policies.
  • Monitor AP aging and ensure payments are processed within agreed credit terms.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor transactions, outstanding balances, and payment schedules.
  • Ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of all payable-related transactions.

Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service providers, and business partners.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, payment disputes, and vendor queries promptly.
  • Conduct periodic vendor reconciliations and balance confirmations.
  • Ensure vendor master data is accurate and updated in ERP systems.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and NBFC regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validate GST, TDS, and other statutory deductions before payment processing.
  • Support internal, statutory, tax, and regulatory audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations.
  • Strengthen internal controls and implement best practices to minimize financial and operational risks.

Payment Management

  • Prepare and review payment proposals based on due dates and cash flow requirements.
  • Coordinate with treasury and banking teams to ensure fund availability and timely payment execution.
  • Monitor payment processing through banking platforms and ERP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with approval matrices and payment authorization controls.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

  • Ensure timely closure of AP-related books and preparation of accrual entries.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities.
  • Reconcile vendor ledgers, advances, GRIR accounts, and payable balances.
  • Assist in financial statement preparation and audit schedules.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate AP processes.
  • Drive ERP utilization and workflow enhancements to reduce manual interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for Accounts Payable operations.
  • Recommend and implement best practices to improve controls and productivity.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team.
  • Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to timelines and SLAs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance on AP processes, compliance requirements, and system usage.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in Accounts Payable processes and financial controls.
  • Thorough understanding of GST, TDS, vendor payments, and statutory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, financial reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail with strong process orientation.

Educational Qualification

  • CA, CMA, MBA (Finance), M.Com, or equivalent qualification.
  • Additional certifications in Accounting, Taxation, ERP Systems, or Financial Controls will be preferred.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with prior experience in NBFCs, Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Lending Institutions, or large corporate organizations handling high-volume Accounts Payable operations will be preferred.
